• National Road--also known as the Cumberland Road. • Steamboats--made upstream travel easier with the engine-driven paddle doing the work. • Canals--used to connect two bodies of water. • Railroads--cut travel time considerably, moved large amounts of goods and people, resulted in establishment of time zones.
