Explanation of deindividuation for crowd behavior?Deindividuation can explain crowd behavior because people loose their sense of personal awareness and responsibility in a crowd, especially if they are wearing a uniform. This makes them conform to the identify and behavior of the crowd. (which can prosocial or antisocial)

What is compliance?Going along with the majority even though we might not privately agree.
What is the explanation for compliance?Normative social influence: compliance happens because we the need to fit in with the group. Its only temporary, the most superficial level of conformity.
What is identification?Temporarily adopting the behavior of a group or role model.
What is the explanation for identification?Deindividuation: identification happens because we have lost our sense of personal identity, possibly due to becoming part of a crowd or wearing a uniform.
What is internalisation?Going along with the majority by adopting their beliefs as our own.
What is the explanation for internalisation?Informational social influence: internalisation happens because we do not know how to behave, so the group provides this information, which we internalise (adopt as our own)
What are the 3 factors affecting conformity?Size of majority, unanimity of the majority, task difficulty.
Explanation for the size of majority ?If there is a majority of at least 3:1, they will have enough social influence, so the likelihood of compliance will increase
Explanation of the unanimity of the majority ?If someone has an ally who agrees with them against the majority, this will break the unanimity of the majority, so the likelihood of compliance will decrease.
