Question:

Voriconazole

Author: Suzuki

Answer:

Voriconazole a triazole, has the advantage of being a broad-spectrum antifungal agent. It is available for both IV and oral administration and is approximately 96 percent bioavailable. Voriconazole penetrates tissues well, including the CNS. Elimination is primarily by metabolism through the CYP450 2C19, 2C9, and 3A4 enzymes. Voriconazole has an even wider spectrum of fungal activity than itraconazole.
