Question:

What are advantages and disadvantages of MADLI specifically?

Author: Mirte Schattorie

Answer:

Advantages: very little sample is wasted, singly charged analytes are usually generated, high troughput, matrix facilitates ionization, allows for molecular mass determination of the analytes while keeping their spatial resolution in tact. disadvantages: difficult to couple to certain mass analysers due to its sensitivity, matrix causes chemical noise in samples with low molecular weights
