Question:

Explain, in your own words, why both gasoline and glucose make good fuels.

Author: fahr dat

Answer:

Both gasoline and glucose make good fuels. Chemically both compounds contain a very high percentage of high-energy C–H bonds. When these molecules react with oxygen, their high-energy valence electrons form strong bonds with the very electronegative oxygen atoms, causing the release of energy. In cars, liquid fuel is advantageous as it is easy to transport. In organisms, a solid power that can be dissolved within the body is beneficial as it allows for easy storage and transport throughout the body and easy absorption from food sources.
