Question:

List some properties of ionic compounds

Author: Phillanie Jacobs

Answer:

- High melting / boiling points - strong electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions required a lot of energy to break - Electrical conductor - when aqueous or molten, the ions are free to move and they can conduct electricity, when solid, the ions are fixed so no conductivity - Soluble in polar solvents - charges parts of the solvent are attracted to the oppositely charged ions.
