Circulating bacteria release endotoxins which stimulates a systemic inflammatory response, causing Vasodilation which leads to fall in TPR increased vascular permeability -> fall in intravascular fluid volume -> fall in CO Leads to fall in mean Arterial BP Baroreceptors detect drop in arterial pressure triggering increased SNS activity Increased HR + SV Vasoconstriction overridden by endotoxin effects This could also be a cause of distributive shock
