Types of On the Job Training- Competency-based Training: training that focuses on the ability to perform specific tasks. - Mentoring/Coaching: supervisor or colleague provides guidance and directions to a new employee. - Job Rotation: employees are rotated through a range of skills and understanding of the business. - Job Instruction: a systematic approach to instructing employees on how to perform a task and safely demonstrating the task, observing and providing feedback.
Off the Job Trainingoccurs when employees learn skills in a location away from the workplace.
Off the Job Training- Seminar/Workshops: employees attend a conference/meeting to attain or develop new knowledge/skills. - University/TAFE Course: employees undertake a course to develop key knowledge or skills related to their job. - Simulation-based training: visual games and case studies used to model real-life work situations. - Role-plays: mock scenarios are used to practice decision-making or problem-solving in real life scenarios
