What is the nervous system? It relies on a network of nerves that transport electrical signals across all parts of the body, that are traveling at the speed of light. It is coordinated by the central nervous system which includes the brain and spinal cord.
What are the three different parts of the Nervous system?1. The central processing region of the brain 2. Nerves that bring information to the brain 3. Nerves that transmit signals from the brain to the parts of the body
What is the peripheral nervous system?it is the sensory pathways that transmits information back to the central nervous system and the motor pathways from it.
What is the motor pathways nervous system?it is associated with the stimulation of glands and other muscles.
What is the sympathetic nervous system? This system is activated in cases of emergencies to mobilise energy
What is the parasympathetic nervous system? This system is activated when organisms are in a relaxed state.
What is the cerebrum? This is the front most part of the brain. It is split into two pieces the right and the left. The right hand side relates to the left and side and vice versa.
What is the thalamus?it is located deep in the brain and it coordinates sensory integration such as auditory and optical information.
What is the hypothalamus? It controls the body temperature, respiration and heart rate.
What is a sensory neurone?this neurone is able to receive information that can be sent to the brain and interpreted.
What is a motor neurone? This neurone carries commands from the brain to the muscles and glands
What is a brain neurone? These neurones are found in the brain and receive information from multiple resources all at once.
What is the Reflex Arc?the reflex arc Is where electrical impulses pass through a serious of neurones to reach the muscle causing it to contract.
